Your watch is far more than a fine timepiece. Yes, it measures time, but it also makes a statement about your personal style and says you care about yourself. It can be a keepsake, passed down and a remembrance for years to come. However, just as you need to bring your car to be serviced and maintained, luxury watches also require a little extra care to keep the moving parts inside wear free.
Sumpters has state of the art timing and service equipment on site with two master watchmakers with over 94 years combined experience. All watches are repaired, serviced and backed by a 2 year warranty. We service most luxury watches and uphold each manufacturer’s standards when doing so. Watch repairs should be done by an expert watchmaker who is trained in the intricate movements of a watch. Our watchmakers are extremely reputable and experts in their field and have the reputation to back that. We supply you with an estimate before any work is done and offer competitive prices, quality work, and quick turnaround times.
When should I have my watch serviced?
Watch manufacturers typically recommend service between three and seven years depending on the specific brand’s requirements. This information can usually be found in the owner’s manual, however you can contact us and we can advise you.
My watch is running fine, why does it need to be serviced?
Your watch may continue to run correctly for some time past the maintenance schedule; however the oils and lubricants used to reduce friction in the movement degrade over time and eventually vaporize. With the many small gears and moving parts in a manual or automatic movement they wear on each other and create their own dust. This wears the gears out. If this happens it can be very costly to replace.
How long does it take and, on average, what will it cost?
This can vary based on the type of watch and its needs. Simple battery changes can be done while you wait, while some restorations can take from 1 to 6 weeks. The cost also varies depending on the specific project. We provide this service for other stores as well as our clients so the price is normally much less than taking it to your traditional retail store.
What happens when I bring it in?
Whether you purchased your timepiece here or at another retailer, when the watch first comes in to our service department, they start with a very detailed visual inspection. They examine the watch when you drop it off, checking for obvious damage to the watch, then they will conduct a thorough examination to let you know what recommendations they have for you. You can rest assured that our master watchmakers will do everything they can to service your timepiece so you will be able to enjoy wearing it for years to come!
